Christy takes up the role of sponsoring a recovering alcoholic while battling her own addiction to gambling. Living in a motel takes a toll on Christy and her family as their challenges seem to grow by the second. Violet makes a gut-wrenching decision. Christy and Bonnie attempt to bring the family back together by leasing a house which has an interesting history, while in the meantime, Bonnie works as the go-between for Christy and Alvin in an effort to bring peace to their relationship.

Bonnie and Christy disagree about forgiveness when Bonnie¡¯s estranged mother returns and wants to be a part of their lives. Christy and Bonnie try to help Jodi, a teenage addict who they meet at a meeting, while Christy tackles problems both at work and home. After Christy and Bonnie get Jodi, a recovering drug addict back on her feet, they find themselves addicted to the rush of helping others and take on a new “project”: Michelle.

Bonnie and Adam¡¯s relationship is tested when she allows him to move in for a few weeks. Also, Christy learns the hard way that it may be a mistake to try and meet men with Jill. Bonnie¡¯s ex-girlfriend offers Christy a lucrative real estate job; Adam wants to know more about Bonnie¡¯s past relationships with women. Bonnie thinks she¡¯s no longer desirable when she catches Adam smoking pot before sex. Christy and Bonnie think Roscoe has a drug problem when Baxter and Candace catch him smoking pot.

In the fifth season premiere episode, Bonnie gets cold feet when considering her future with Adam, and Christy risks failing an important test in order to help a fellow alcoholic. Christy is certain that Bonnie is in over her head when she invites a freshly paroled Tammy to stay with them.

Mom, Season 7 (2014)
Christy (Anna Faris) is still sober and has her life mostly back on track, though she’s continually tested by her mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney). Together, the two work to overcome their mistakes and build a better future. Now, Christy is well on her way to becoming a lawyer, while Bonnie is in a healthy romantic relationship and has just married Adam (William Fichtner). Through it all, Christy and Bonnie rely on their support system from AA, including the wise Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), the wealthy and sometimes misguided Jill (Jaime Pressly), the overly emotional Wendy (Beth Hall), and the loudmouth but sweet Tammy (Kristen Johnston), who was upgraded to series regular status for this season.[3] Collectively, they help each other stay sober in the face of whatever life throws at them.
