Looney Tunes was established in 1930.Bugs Bunny has starred in 170 films and has even won an Oscar. In 1997, Bugs Bunny became the first animated character to appear on a U.S. postage stamp. Mel Blanc has done the voice work for about 90 percent of Looney Tunes characters. Fritz Freleng directed more than 240 of the Looney Tunes cartoons, the most by far of any of the studio¡¯s directors.

The cartoon ‘What¡¯s Opera, Doc’ (starring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd) was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry because of its cultural significance.
